Today I had my first encounter with an Aussie reptile. Movement on the side of the path caught my eye.
When Aussie Mate stopped laughing at my reaction, he said it was a blue tongue lizard.
I didn’t get close enough to confirm it’s blue tongue!
I did spend the rest of our walk, looking at the ground rather than taking photos of the flowers and trees.
This is what it would have looked like if it had said hello.
We have natural bush behind our house and we do get lots of different creatures visiting. Today we saw a lizard in the garage and a few days ago we had a skink in our back yard. Just remember they are more frightened of you than you are of them :-).

We have a rock embankment near our work carpark and some blue tongues and stumpy tails live there. They also live here but I only see them when the dogs have killed them; curse them (the dogs). They say if you have lizards near your house you won’t have snakes. Later in the season, we get tiger snakes here. They have killed a horse here so I don’t muck around if I see one near the house.

Luckily my sighting was not near our house. This is a new learning curve for me.
