E is for … Eucalyptus
These beautiful evergreen trees are a common sight here and have such a distinctive scent.
There are more than 700 species of eucalyptus, yet only 15 occur outside Australia.
They range from tall trees to small shrubs, with variation in leaf shape, bark, buds, flower colour, shape and size of the fruit, capsules or gum nuts.
Love them – especially the ones with the frilly flowers 🙂
You have the BEST plants and trees. We have boring spruce, pine, and cedar 😦

I think I notice them more because they are still new to me, I didn’t grow up with them around.

Which means you will probably always hold them dear to your heart 🙂

I love your photos! I didn’t know the flowers could also be orange or yellow, I had only seen pink ones. (Well not in person, of course, just photos)

Thanks Cynthia. I haven’t seen the yellow flowers here in Tassie, I took that photo in Perth, WA.

So do the trees themselves have the scent, or is it just the flowers? Or leaves maybe? Do you have to get very close to smell them?

The leaves and it seems, the trees. I notice the scent from several meters away when there are several trees together in an urban setting.
