L had to be for London.
It’s a year since I’ve been there so I enjoyed looking through archives to choose a few photos to share.
I commuted to work in this wonderful city for more decades than I want to admit. Initially working in Knightsbridge, wandering in Hyde Park or Harrods during lunch breaks. Later, working on the South Bank, walking passed the Globe Theatre each day, enjoying views across the river to St Paul’s Cathedral. I spent many years in the actual City of London, passing Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the Monument, and more recently, the Shard. So many favourite places in the centre of the city and further afield in Greenwich.
As it’s is Thursday, I’ve included a few doors and gates for Norm’s Thursday Doors challenge.

I like the very first one and the poppies at the Tower, but they all bring back good memories, even though I haven’t been to London for some years.

Beautiful shots, Ruth! I read about the poppies exhibit last year and how it’s traveling to different places in Britain. What a tribute and beautiful piece of artwork. I like your photo of it.

I’ve only been to London once and it was just a stopover for a couple of days on our way home. It was so nice to look at your pictures and remember most of it from our short visit. The Tower of London was certainly the most memorable 🙂

That brings back wonderful memories, and makes me feel like crying. I do miss London. When I was there in November last year, London had become very busy – heaving with people and traffic. It was a shock to start with in comparison to when I lived there for a couple of years in the late 1980’s. St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London were two places I reacquainted myself with when I was visiting last year. Love Den xx

Lovely photos. I like the way you had a red theme run through them. That women of WW2 memorial is brilliant.

Thanks Jean. I should probably have included Lightroom in L. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with photos, such as the red colour editing.

London is such a lovely city, thanks for the tour…I feel more at home in London than most other cities, but it is teeming with people now, I was lucky to visit it when I was young.
