M is for … Mailboxes
Mailboxes here in Australia are a constant delight.
I’m used to post being delivered through a letter box in my front door. In the UK, letters, cards, bills and other post arrive inside the home … unless you have a dog that will eat post, in which case you put a mailbox on the outside of your house, within reach from your front door.
Here in Australia, we have to go the the front gate to collect our mail.
In rural areas, a row of mailboxes are a regular sight at the end of a side road.
Some quirky mailboxes here. It’d be fun to be a postie sometimes.

Those are great, I love the make-your-own approach! We use mailboxes here, but they don’t have a fraction of the personality. People usually buy them at the store, so the only variation is color, for the most part. Great collection!

I have a plain letterbox by the front door. It’s the same letterbox that was on the house when we bought it over 20 years ago. If mail wasn’t such a rarity now, I would consider something new and interesting. Maybe a windmill 🙂

Windmill sounds fun, Joanne.

Good idea to do the mailboxes Ruth, very Australian! I remember staying with my cousin in London and thinking it was very civilized to get your mail coming through the front door!!

Fun… until you stick your hand inside and a spider or snake takes offence at you intruding in it’s new home!! 😉

Great collection of mailboxes. A blogger had a mailbox challenge a few years back, all these would’ve taken pride of place on that challenge.

Thanks Pauline. They do fascinate me. Husband is now used to me asking him to stop driving at short notice so I can jump out and snap them.
