V is for … View.
“What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.”
These are a few of my favourite views in Tasmania. When I took each of these photos I felt captivated by the view. Time stood still.
Wineglass Bay
Looking east from Mount Nelson, Hobart
Hobart from Mount Wellington
Southern Ocean from Kingston
Tahune Airwalk
Bruny Island – the Neck
Huon River at Franklin
East Coast beach
Central lake
Below is the full poem – “Leisure”
by William Henry Davies
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
What a wonderful poem that is. And perfect for your stunning photos. Tasmania is blessed to have some of the most magnificent views. Perfect V post.

Thanks Miriam. I hadn’t planned the poem, it came to mind at the last minute but seem to fit perfectly.

What a great poem and so true…there are so many wonderful vistas to stare at! Photography helps me to ”stand and stare” a bit more. I love Wineglass Bay, it is a stunning view.

Yes, Cynthia. A few high mountains which will have snow on them for a couple of months during winter.

The last couplet of ‘Leisure’ has been my earworm this week. How funny that I then stumble onto your lovely depiction via Claudette and her Emotography. I love this. Thank you.
