Y is for … yachts
You can’t miss the yachts in Hobart.
Either moored in yacht clubs or out on the River Derwent.
From the tiny one person single sail dingy’s, that young kids learn in after school, to the super yachts of the annual “Sydney to Hobart” Yacht Race and the clippers of the “Round the World” Yacht Race.
I don’t know the first thing about sailing, but the yachts are captivating.
I sailed the Hawksbury River with friends many years ago. Still have great memories. Lovely photos.

I love the one with all the carts on the beach and the boats in the water 🙂

Thanks Cynthia. It’s great that the kids learn all aspects of sailing including getting the boats from the sailing club and in / out of the water. Hard work for some of the little kids.

Wow, that must be a lot of fun. I’ve never done anything like that. Used to go in canoes and rowboats with my Dad as a kid, but never sailing or in the ocean!

Me neither, I enjoy watching them from the shore.

In the summers a lot of the harbors in this area have yachts. I don’t sail either, but they’re pretty to look at.

I love watching yachts, it just seems to be a part of looking at a harbour view, and Hobart has one of the nicest harbours.

Yes, I think it’s a pretty close second to Sydney harbour.

Y is for WHY? I don’t understand the attraction of Yachts – they are just not tidy enough 🙂

We met some lovely people in Hobart when we were there, and they live on their yacht most of the time with their cat. And then there was the Three Peaks Race, of course. Great choice for “Y”.
