This delightful poster has appeared on the walls of the office where I am volunteering, to mark NAIDOC Week here in Australia.
It’s a time to recognise Indigenous Australians, their contributions to the country, to celebrate their history, culture and achievements.
It’s an annual event of celebrations in local communities, encompassing government agencies, local councils, schools and workplaces.
NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’, formed back in the mid 1970’s. The acronym is now the name of the week of events.
The theme for this year is “Songlines: The living narrative of our nation”.
Wow that’s lovely.
