According to my Fitbit, I have walked the length of New Zealand.
I love these badges of encouragement.
I needed this boost. I’ve been slack with exercise now I’m spending five days a week sitting at a desk. The cold dark winter mornings have not inspired me to do any exercise before work.
So let’s start a new week with new enthusiasm and aim to walk at least 10,000 steps per day.
I love the way they put the distance into some sort of context. Now I want a Fitbit. 😀

I can relate with regard to the slackness. I’ve had no time to walk my dog these past couple of weeks and don’t think I’ve walked anywhere near the distance to New Zealand!

Hi Miriam. I must admit I find my fitbit is a great motivator. If I’m close to my daily target of 10,000 steps a day I can be found walking around the apartment at 10pm or later just to reach the daily goal.

Congratulations Ruth! I have a FitBit too and I like getting these badges as well. I agree that it does give you a little boost to motivate yourself. I keep aiming to walk 10,000 steps a day for at least 7 days, but as yet I can’t get past 5 days. Oh well, tomorrow starts a new week so we’ll see what happens …

I struggle with seven says a week. I aim for six with only 5k on a Sunday. But I’ve not been reaching that recently. So good luck for the next week, keep on stepping Sue.

Congratulations Ruth, lovely to have those badges, I need to get a FitBit too! I agree it is very hard to get out walking every day when the weather is gloomy. When we were in Queensland the warm beach was at our doorstep and we walked up and down the beach every morning. It is very cold here in Canberra today, and this week, so my motivation is fast disappearing!!

The beach certainly helps but I need more hours in my day too. Roll on spring and earlier warmer mornings.

I’ve had my Fitbit a couple of years. I actually do better counting steps in the winter when I walk on the treadmill. In the summer, I garden and it doesn’t necessarily equate into the same number of steps that randomly walking does but I’m darn tired from the physical work. 🙂 Having it keeps you aware of sitting versus moving and that is a really good thing.

I’m starting to feel neglected because I don’t have one 😦 I do like the badges though. 🙂
