This is the view overlooking Hobart and the River Derwent, from the Mount Nelson Signal Station.
The signal station was built in 1811, when the settlement of Hobart town was less than a decade old. The flag staff and guard house was built as a lookout to announce the arrival of ships entering the estuary from the Southern Ocean.

stunning views Ruth, makes me remember how much I loved Hobart.(and the River Derwert) The blue skies and mountains remind me of Canberra.
