I was planning for today’s post to be about lighthouses, even had photos ready to upload.
But I went for a beach walk this morning, in the sunshine. A perfect way to start the four day Easter weekend. I noticed the autumn leaves.
Even though it is two years since we moved to Tasmania, my “northern hemisphere brain” still makes subconscious connections, so for me, Easter is Spring, daffodils, new shoots on the trees.
Although my head knows the seasons are opposite, sometimes I am consciously taken aback by that fact. Just like this morning.
Here are photos from my walk.
And of course, some gum leaves.
The first one is delightful. I know your confusion. When I lived in SA I could never associate Easter with autumn. Although there it was usually almost springlike!

I’ve wondered how I’d handle opposite seasons or even living where there are essentially “no seasons”. I think I need some snow at least to keep me on the right year! I have trouble enough with days that are the same since retirement!
Beautiful images!

Very pretty fall leaves. I don’t think I could get used to opposite seasons either. I’m outside now looking at all the tender green leaves emerging and thought huh? when I first saw your post 🙂

L is definitely for leaves, and I spent 3 hours raking them up yesterday and didn’t hardly make a dent. 🙂 Happy Easter, but please keep fall and the leaves. 🙂

Hi Ruth
I like the photos of the beach. Here in NW Auckland, autumn has not arrived. We have had a dry and humid summer, and an above normal humidity in April. I have looked at the Liquid Amber in my garden. It has just started to turn colour with the majority of the leaves still green, a very few red, and some have instantly turned a grape colour. Grape is not a usual colour for our autumn. We have also had a lot of rain in the last 6 weeks. I sometimes wonder if the weather has an impact on the timing of the seasonal change, or whether we are in autumn, but not seeing the usual yellow, orange, red turn to the leaves. My shaggy willow tree is still in full leaf as such. The leaf colouring is dull now, indicating change is on its way. Keep up the wonderful adventures. Love Den xx.

I love autumn leaves & cool weather .. I was brought up in Africa & lived near the equator … Only a wet & dry season … So colourful leaves are a welcome sight for me.
