This isn’t the post I had planned for X but today, two beautiful gum trees across the road from my office window, were cut down.
The block of land has been empty for months. Yesterday, workmen arrived and pulled down buildings and fences.
This morning, a guy walked over with a chain saw and in minutes, this was the result.
So today, “X is for cut” and for these ex trees, that will no longer be in the view from my desk.
That is just sad. What a shame they didn’t try to transplant them. I hate seeing healthy trees destroyed.

I was sad too, but I’m fortunate to live in a place with millions of trees.

Sad to see! It takes so long for a tree to get to that size :(!

My thoughts too Rainee. I used to judge the weather and wind but how their branches were moving.

That is sad. I saw a tree being removed this morning, too. I don’t know for certain that it was cut down, but I’m pretty sure that it was because we didn’t have any storms yesterday or last night that would have blown it down. I saw them finishing up on the way to school, and on the way back home all the trucks were gone. What a bummer.

Yes, it took so long to get a window desk, now no trees. Craig just called me a Greenie!

I’m having difficulty *liking* this 😦
It is always appropriate to feel sadness at the loss of healthy tree – I’m assuming it’s healthy – in the interests of developers.

Joanne, yes a “sad” option would sometimes be useful.

Sorry to hear of it–this is happening all over Portland, OR as our city booms and new housing–mostly ugly–are built as quickly as possible…ugh. Old, lovely homes are often demolished for high rises, as well–so distressing.
My office window looked out over a few trees and also lots of traffic….(I am now retired and see all the trees I desire!)
