Something unusual is happening on our East Coast beaches.
As we walked on to the white sand, we noticed hundreds of fish amongst the remnants of seaweed.
Locals advised that these little leatherjacket fish have been carried south by the currents but the water here is too cold for them. Hence this phenomenon on beaches all along the coast.
Definitely unusual.

That is very depressing … The change in currents makes me think it must be to do with climate change.

I’m not sure Gerrie. I think it has happened in the past.

What an unusual find. Poor little fishies. I suppose climate change can be blamed for that.

I’m not sure of the cause, Sue. I guess climate change is a possibility.

My friend has a house at Bicheno, she says this has been happening for months now, very sad.

One local said it happened last year too.
