Whist in Sydney recently I took photos of these two beautiful trees that we don’t see in Tasmania.
The jacaranda flowers were past their best but still a blast of colour along suburban streets.
The frangipani buds opened a little more each day, on our daughters back yard tree.
Stunning. 🌸

Both beauties, but I have a soft spot for the Jacaranda having first come across it in Johannesburg. Why don’t you find them in Tasmania then?

But jacarandas do grow in Paris and that isn’t always warm I can assure you. Also Johannesburg is very cold in winter – but dry. Maybe that’s the key. Although it rains a lot in Paris so… I give in!!

I had a look and Jacarandas do need good drainage, and about 8 hours sun a day to bloom. Which is why we don’t see them in flower in the UK I suppose. They can be grown indoors, but again will probably not flower, and let’s face it, it is those flowers we all love! Yes frangipani are definitely a hot-house flower. Jasmine is a little like it so I shall have to make do!

Hope all is going well on this last day before Christmas for you Jude. I am happy we have had rain, well just showers, but that is the Christmas present for the garden as it has been VERY hot with drying winds. Wishing you peace and happiness and best wishes for 2018

Funny, they have always thrived in Sydney, and we’re not Tropical. A few more decades of global warming and we may be, of course!

Lovely! We have a jacaranda tree out the front of our house – one of my favourite trees. Speaking of trees, I am anticipating your (multi-purpose) Christmas tree 🙂
