Wineglass Bay is a beautiful, secluded bay on Tasmania’s East Coast, within Freycinet National Park.
There is a walking track up to this lookout point, which meanders down to the bay itself.
Last week we joined a Wineglass Bay Cruise to explore the coast and enjoy a ploughman’s lunch while anchored within the bay. The winter weather was glorious and we were fortunate to see local wildlife.
Dolphins played alongside the boat.
Seals relaxed on the rocks.
Southern right whales showed themselves as they migrate north.
The bay itself was glorious, blue sky, white sand, turquoise waters, golden rocks, green trees.
A perfect day in a perfect place.
Looks magical Ruth.

A cruise, beautiful scenery, and entertainment – yes, it did indeed sound like a perfect outing! I’ve been lucky to see whales on a couple of occasions, but never dolphins or seals. That would have been the highlight for me!

It’s the first time I’ve seen dolphins up close. They are delightful.

Ha ha. We were lucky with the weather last week. Today it is crazy windy, heavy rain and snow down to 600m.

I think Wineglass bay is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Nice to know you can now do a cruise, and fancy seeing whales, and dolphins….another reason to come back to lovely Tasmania!
Lovely photo of the bay in particular.

Thank you Gerrie. It was special and lucky with the weather compared to today’s rain and winds.

Magnificent Ruth! We went here many years ago when our girls were small – too small for the youngest to walk up the hill to get to the trail so I stayed behind with her and my husband took the elder one up to see the bay. Someday we may get back there – in the meantime thanks for sharing your stunning photos 🙂
