Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha) is the national floral emblem of Australia and today is National Wattle Day. It marks the first day of spring.
There are over 1,350 types of wattle, here are just a few that have been on show in Tasmania in recent weeks.

Hi Ruth. The flowers are such a lovely profusion of yellow. We have them here courtesy of the wind from Australia. We have no native wattle species as they are not a flower of NZ. I recently used the seed pod in an art work. Thanks for pointing out there is a National Wattle Day. I had not known. Thanks too for sharing your lovely photos. Den xx

I love the wattle flowers, Den. Little busts of sunshine.

Lovely – I struggle with getting a sharp photo of yellow – just seems to blur out.

Lovely wattle shots Ruth, they are beautiful flowers…unfortunately they do give me hay fever, but still worth admiring them.
