One of the first things we wanted to do when we moved, was buy pots for our balcony. I visited a local nursery to get advice for our windy, coastal location. We chose these pots and planted violas and Rhaphiolepis (Indian hawthorn). They are thriving and look good with our ceramic poppies from The Tower of London.
Apparently these bushes are “one of the most bulletproof shrubs around”. As they mature they will have these tiny white flowers.
The pots are lovely and I especially love the bright ceramic poppies.

Lovely Ruth. I like the colour of the pot you chose and the selection of plants and poppy. I hope you have much enjoyment from them. Den xx

Rhaphiolepis sounds like it would be perfect in my garden! We have had horrendous windy conditions over the past couple of days! And those pots are gorgeous – probably cost a bob or two to buy here.

The pots cost a bit here too, but a long term investment. I’m just reading about the crazy temperatures across Europe. Stay cool.

Ha! No danger in overheating where I live – we are currently in the fog! Supposed to burn off this afternoon, but it is pretty thick at the moment!

Congratulations on your new house Ruth. The pots look lovely.. We have a same ”bulletproof” shrub (don’t know the name) but it has been a very hardy plant in our garden for years.

I have these – but we call them something else (can’t think what just now). They are bulletproof.
