It’s set to be a short season for some of our summer fruit. Partly due to weather, hail storms which has damaged some crops. Also the lack of pickers due to Australia’s border closure, lack of back packers and casual workers.
So I was delighted to buy these delicious fruits from the local farmers markets. Hopefully I can get to some Pick Your Own farms next weekend.
Yum. Looks delicious. I was very surprised at how expensive soft fruit was in Sydney when I was last there, I’d assumed, given your climate, that growing fruit would be a doddle and therefore relatively cheap, but not so. I see you are having similar problems to us with pickers – Covid and Brexit not helping here.

Hello Ruth. The selection of fruit looks lovely. We can’t get pickers here either. I think there may be some Pacific Island people coming soon to help out under special conditions.

Lovely picture of my favourite soft fruits. I grow raspberries and blueberries myself so I’m OK for those in season but I’d love to be able to grow peaches as well. I have to wait to go to Italy, France or Spain for those as non of the imported ones taste anything like the ‘fresh of the tree’ ones I can by there.
