I can’t believe the life I am living right now. We had a dream. Redundancy in the UK in 2014 made the dream a possibility. Now it is my reality.
Aussie Mate and I packed up our life in the UK mid April 2015 and moved to Hobart ,Tasmania.
We’ve rented a waterfront apartment for six months, bought a car and completed all the admin tasks required to start a new life in Australia.
We’ll look for work and settle into the community here as we decide where we should spend the next phase of our lives.
As we have family and visa’s on both sides of the globe, “the world is our oyster”.
Our elder daughter (S~E) is settled in Sydney, married (to G~J) and sharing their home with their beagle puppy dog. Our younger daughter (C~M) stayed in London, flat sharing and living the twenty-something lifestyle.
Sounds fantastic, Ruth. Very best wishes to you. 🙂

Very interesting story Ruth! We’ve been in Australia for nearly 25 years now and have now settled in Perth. We lived in Melbourne for 7 years though and visited Tasmania a couple of times from there. Hobart is a lovely town – loved Salamanca Quay and all the old houses. Also have 2 daughters, one married here in Perth with 2 daughters of her own now and the other living in London footloose and fancy free. Best wishes to you for your new adventures! 🙂

Thanks Rosemary. Seems we are in similar positions with kids on both sides of the world. Thank goodness for Skype and FaceTime.

Absolutely Ruth – when we first moved here there was none of that it was letters or the occasional phone call. I realise now how hard it must have been for our families back in the UK. Now as well as my daughter, I also Skype my 82 year old dad each week – it’s a great way to keep in touch!

I hope you’re enjoying Tasmania. We’ve only been there once but loved it, it’s so untouched and naturally beautiful.

Welcome to Tasmania!
I live on the northwest coast and spend a fair amount of time in the Hobart environs as that is where my son and grandchildren live. I plan to move there sometime next year.

Hi Ruth, I got nabbed for this Challenge, and your name came up in my Reader – so I “itted” you. It doesn’t take much time (unless like me you spend hours looking for the right quotes), however I won’t be offended if you choose not to do participate. You can see my entry here: http://ceenoa.com/2016/01/24/quote-challenge-day-3/
